FAQ

Check out the new tour available on the Steger Center website.

The Steger Center staff includes a student life coordinator who can help support students who live in the Steger Center and in the apartments. In addition, our administrative staff and local faculty are available to help plan excursions and to help build experiential learning opportunities for students. We have a local travel agency approved by the university with whom we collaborate.

Full semester

The Steger Center hosts full semester programs during the fall and spring semesters. Orientation begins on the Thursday prior to the first day of classes in Blacksburg. The first day of classes at the Steger Center coincides with the first day of classes in Blacksburg.

In an effort to provide time for coordinated, academic travel and experiential learning, the Steger Center closes for two weeks each term, normally during the fifth and 10th weeks of the semester. These dates are available on the calendar on the Steger Center webpage.

Please pay close attention to the dates in the calendar when planning your semester.

Short-term programs

The Steger Center can also host short-term programs for undergraduate and graduate programs in May and June each year.

If you are interested in establishing a summer program, please contact  Sara Steinert Borella, executive director, as soon as possible. Please be aware that summer programs require a commitment a full year in advance, so planning should begin early.

The Steger Center welcomes small conferences or workshops organized by Virginia Tech faculty in the month of July.

We are also happy to host professional development opportunities in conjunction with departments or institutes at Virginia Tech during that month.

Please reach out to Sara Steinert Borella, executive director, for questions or information on availability.
